Part Three. How the ecosystem is organised
Chapter 11
The tokenised asset classes
Ce chapitre existe aussi en français →
A US Treasury bill and an income-producing building in Chambéry have one thing in common. Both produce income, and both can be represented by a token. In every other respect, almost everything separates them. The first is priced every second on the deepest market in the world, trades in billions in a few moments and requires no management. The second is valued once a year by an appraiser, sells over several months with a notary, and requires a property manager, a building manager, works and rent reminders. Tokenising them belongs to two different trades.
Each family of tokenised assets has its own logic, flagship products, risks and degree of maturity. Yet all follow the same slope, from the most liquid and easily valued assets towards the slowest and most singular. Real estate, at the very bottom, concentrates the greatest difficulties and the greatest potential.
Overview
RWA.xyz data make it possible to measure the weight of each family in the distributed market, the one in which investors hold and transfer their tokens themselves.
